Severe Depression

Severe depression is often characterized by symptoms of

The degree of depression is assessed by how your symptoms affect your daily life, such as missing school or work. While you may be able to judge the intensity of your depression based on your symptoms.

While antidepressants and therapy are the most effective treatment for people who have Severe depression, lifestyle modifications can be used as an adjunct

 

  • Get Regular Exercise

  • Managing Stress Levels

  • Yoga and Meditation

  • Relaxation techniques

  • Mindfulness Techniques

  • Breathing exercises

  • Self Care

  • Having a routine- It may require extra effort

  • No negative self talk

  • Eat a healthy diet

  • Seek out social support

  • Engage in activities you enjoy

Try to avoid isolating yourself when you are feeling down. Depression often causes people to withdraw from friends and loved ones, but reaching out to the people who care about you can actually help reduce feelings of depression.

In case of suicidal thoughts, remove any weapons, medications, or other things you might use to harm yourself from your home. Ask a trusted person to keep any guns or other weapons away from you. Put extra pills into a bag filled with cat litter or dirt and throw out the whole package
